Each year one of our concerts features a young performer who has won our concerto competition. In addition to performing with the orchestra, the winner receives a cash prize from the Ehlers Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This season's Young Artist Concerto Competition winner will perform with the orchestra on Friday March 23 & Saturday March 24, 2018. Up to two other applicants may be invited to play prelude recitals before the Friday or Saturday concerts.
The Ehlers Young Artist Concerto Competition is open to musicians of high school age or younger who reside in eastern Massachusetts. All orchestral instruments are considered, including piano. Each entrant auditions to play an entire concerto or similar work suitable for performance with the orchestra. The winner is chosen by a panel of orchestra members and the music director.
The Ehlers Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1993 in memory of Charles and Arlene Ehlers, past orchestra friends and supporters. Contributions to perpetuate this fund may be mailed to The Concord Orchestra at P.O. Box 381, Concord, MA 01742.
